The play tells the story of the discovery of a native island community and their contribution towards the progress and trade of the modern world. The play involves the acquisition of invaluable resources off a fictitious island in the Bay of Bengal. The natives find themselves trapped in the chaos of the developed world. It deals with the concept of primitive vs. civilized, it is presented with verbal wit and visual humour.

Works by Sujit Karmakar Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010. noon to  7 p.m. Ahuja Museum for Arts 26 Lee Road, Ground Floor , (at Elgin Road, Lee Road Crossing) Sujit Karmakar's works display stark realism on first impression and once the initial impact loosens its hold, one cannot help but notice his well-finished craft. The artist favours large canvases, which strengthens emotions in the compositions. His works portray struggle of the common man that he is familiar with. He often chooses children as his subject, detailing larger bromide prints with his acrylic-on-canvas work.
