He often chooses children as his subject, detailing larger bromide prints with his acrylic-on-canvas work.
Interpretation of Eclectric Encounters Thursday, November 11th, 2010. 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Gallery Kolkata 2nd Floor, Duckback House, 41 , Shakespeare SaraniThe exhibition space acts as a site where these 26 eminent artists work out their destiny, the right to signify human experience as the “wholeness’ of existence, dispensing with utilitarian projects and engaging with the violent dynamic that has no other object than the return to a lost totality. Such encounters open the interior experience of wholeness and belong to the realm of the sacred and erotic. Their truth is known only because of a set of accidents. This exhibition keeps the record of such events, nearly effaced or self-effacing, but altogether real. The participants include Jogen Chowdhury, Prokash Karmakar, Rabin Mondal, Subrata Ghosh, Wasim Kapoor.

Autograph - Kolkata - Showtimes
Autograph
Genre: Family Rating: U/A Cast: Prosenjit Chatterjee, Nandana Sen, Indraneil Sengupta , Piyush Ganguly, Rudra Prasad Sengupta Director: Satyajith Synopsis: Autograph revolves around three people from the world of arts: a young director, a superstar and a theatre actress. Thrown together on a film set, they find their lives changing. Taking a captivating, thoughtful approach to celebrity culture and the pitfalls of the film world, Autograph has been inspired by Satyajit Ray’s Nayak and Ingmar’s Bergman’s Wild Strawberries. Essentially a movie within a movie, the narrative splits into two parallel strands, playing with the blurred boundaries between reality and the make-believe world of Tollywood (in Kolkata) stardom. The two narratives interweave as the story jumps between reel and real events: while one of the strands follows the unconventional relationship brewing between the star and a journalist, the other details the emotional triangle between the director, the actress and the superstar. |
